Finally I am going

After months of indecisive phase my position seems clear now. I would be going to Melaka - Malaysia by the mid of May. Thus CAT 06 is out of question now. The decision whether to accept the Malaysia posting offer or to go to Ahmedabad was tough in real sense. At one hand where in Ahemedabad I could have prepared well for my CAT, XAT etc , it would have been hard to gel with the batchmates , majority of whom would have been freshers or 2-3 years work ex at the most. Also, since I would prefer to go for one year compared to the two years MBA, GMAT writing is inevitable and subsequently the preparation of my application.

I am pressuming that international exposure attached to my Malesia posting should give substantial wieght to my application. I will be going as Mechanical Planning Engineer there and will be loaded with lots of vital responsibility.

Obviously I would be able to gain some financial benefit also and it will help me to support my family for 1 year when I will not be working.

Let me write something about the project.
MG3 Project at Malesia
Foster Wheeler Awarded PMC Contract by Petronas for Lube Base Oil Plant in Malaysia.
Foster Wheeler Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and the subsidiary's partner, OGP Technical Services Sdn Bhd, have been awarded a project management consultancy (PMC) contract by PETRONAS Penapisan (Melaka) Sdn Bhd (PP(M)SB) for the addition of a lube base oil plant at the PP(M)SB refinery at Melaka, Malaysia.
And L&T is one of the major partner in the consortium formed for execution of the project.

Further detail I will add later as and when I get.

Maleka is 150 kms south of Kuala lumpur. Further down about 200 kms is Singapore. So I will certainly get chance to visit Singapore as well.

My concern:- I am only concerned about my GMAT now. I wish I had taken my GMAT before going there. No point repenting now. I must steal 1 hr atleast in any circumstances since the begining and devote it for my GMAT.

I am going to purchase Laptop immly after landing there. This is must and only way of keeping myself in touch with PG and other useful forums on net.

I am a bit enthused with my decision to go to Malaysia and feel that I should be able to convert my dreams in to reality.

Getting started again

Few months ago I started blogging but I could not continue with my thoughts coherently. I started with a post which was basically regarding my family and friends. However, I found that I wanted to write a lot of things regarding my plans for writing GMAT.

So first thing first. Primarily this blogg will deal with all the links, posts, articles etc pertaining to GMAT and MBAs. This would also include the excerpts /comments of the books I read, and other important stuffs which I deem important and consider suitable to discuss out here.

Last 5-6 months I am genuinely on the roller coaster ride because of my transfer issues. First it was Chennai where I was likely to move. Then it became Kolkata where I am presently staying as my boss was all set to become the Regional Manager of Kolkata office and he wanted me here with him. However, one fine day in early March I heard from my boss that he is moving to Ahmedabad and if I was interested to join him there. I consented to his proposal though the other option by then was posting at Malaysia for one of our refinery project for 2 years. I took chance (aliging myselg with Boss) and got myself ready for Ahmedabad. Googled a lot about Ahmedabad.

But last week it was again a U-turn and I am being seen going to Malaysia again. The approval is yet to come from HQ though.

With all these things happening around me can I expect my study to be continued in a regular fashion? Leave alone study part I am not able to even figure out one of the most cliché kind of question which surfaces most of the people like me that is 'Whether GMAT or CAT?'

And till date the same situation prevails.
Hope the dark cloud of confusion and seemingly infinite imbroglio will end soon and I can plan for my first step at the earliest.

Though as of now I am going to Malaysia then CAT is out of question.
But then when shall I write GMAT?

Threats: The work profile in Malaysia will hardly leave me with 2-3 hrs a day for preparation. I hope I become wrong in my perception but what I could discover from my colleagues out here in my company that managing any kind of preparation would call for extraordinary determination and indefatigable attitude. Hope I would be able to metamorphose my self.
